Sr. Manufacturing Engineer
One of the world’s leading manufactures of laser products for the biotechnology industry is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer who will be responsible for supporting the factory to launch new products and sustain existing products. In this role you will be a part of teams consisting of Design Engineers, Process Engineers, Scientists, and Manufacturing Management, who specify, characterize, and control product performance.
Methodologies used include DOE, Six-Sigma, Gage R&R, PFMEA/DFMEA, DFM, Statistical Process Control and other processes.
The ideal candidate has experience in the laser, photonics, fiber optic or electro-optics industry
· DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Create assembly and test processes and procedures.
· Recommend and develop improvements to business processes.
· Identify, budget, and purchase capital equipment needed to meet schedule requirements.
· Evaluate new product designs for manufacturability, quality, and reliability. Recommend design improvements.
· Create data collection plans.
· Evaluate data and improve product performance.
· Facilitate completion of prototype and pilot production units to meet schedule requirements, leveraging others where possible.
· Evaluate and analyze data acquired during system test using programs such as MS Excel, MS Access, , and LabView. Make recommendations for process modifications based on analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Solid understanding of statistical methods
and process control.
* Solid understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes and Industrial
Engineering concepts.
* Familiar with DOE (Design of Experiments) techniques.
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings per GD&T Y14.5.
* Ability to evaluate and analyze data using programs such as Microsoft Excel,
MS Access, and Lab View (LabView programming not required).
* Ability to recommend (using data) and implement sound solutions and
strategies.
* Ability to solve difficult problems and separate symptoms from root causes.
* Able to create and analyze Bills-of-Materials.
* Ability to train production operators
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
BS degree in
engineering or science is required (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or
Manufacturing Engineering; Optical Science; Physics).
* 10+ years of experience within a manufacturing organization is
required.
* Strong computer skills required, including expertise with MS Excel and MS
Word.
* Experience with opto-electrical-mechanical products is preferred.
* Understanding of laser and optical component design theory helpful.
* Extensive experience with a wide variety of data acquisition equipment and
software ideal.
