SEAMAGINE SUBMARINE FACTORY TOUR, JULY 24TH, 2010   

  Seamagine is a world-leading manufacturer of small 2 and 3 person submersibles (for the scientific, commercial, and luxury yacht markets) with depth ratings ranging from 500 feet (1.53m) to 3000 feet (914m). With 7 submersibles delivered in 6 countries to date, Seamagine submarines have accumulated over 10,000 dives with an excellent track record in safety and reliability.

  Thanks to Chair-elect Kevin Hardy's proficient planning and widespread announcements, a large group of engineers and students descended upon Seamagine's Claremont, CA's facility with an intense desire to learn about this fascinating company. Fortunately, president and CEO William Kohnen and associates were well prepared for the crowd. William started out with an incredibly detailed explanation about many aspects of the 2-man sub. He then followed with allowing pairs of attendees to sit inside the "bubble" while the upper half was latched in place. Finally, William presented a slide show that included pictures of manufacturing and testing techniques.

All guests were treated to a wide variety of food and drinks to round off an incredible day!
