The Patrick Henry High Engineering Academy Career
Exploration Fair, March 4th, 2009
This was the fourth annual event of this type
for Patrick Henry High and once again, there were many informative and
interesting tables and representatives from which students could absorb plenty
of knowledge. San Diego's own SME Chapter 44 was proud to sponsor a "Technology
Demonstrator" (by Dave Sulli) that included digital-display fiberoptic
sensors/amplifiers, pressure sensors, a diaphragm compressor, air tank, water
pump, latching and ice cube relays, pneumatic cylinders, and solenoid valves. We
must certainly thank Yvonne and the many teachers and office personnel who
together made this a very successful event!

Future working America out on the floor......

Every hour or so, 50+ students worked their way around the various tables and displays. Many had a list of questions about the information they were given and about what one of many professions were like on a daily basis.
We owe our future to this generation of inquisitive students!
After many months of designing, fabricating, building, and testing, I was eager to show off this display. The giveaways you see at the front of the table were generously donated by SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers). Also, some of the display components were purchased using funds contributed by our local SME chapter 44.
