For 75 Years, SME has been Where Manufacturing Comes
Together. The
Society of Manufacturing Engineers is dedicated to bringing people
and information together to advance manufacturing knowledge. We are
internationally recognized by manufacturing practitioners,
companies
and other organizations as their source for information, education,
and networking.
We support manufacturers from all industries and job functions
through our events and technical and professional development
resources. A firm workforce development supporter, SME invests
heavily in manufacturing education.
Our local Chapter44 continues to grow and many valuable events for
you are planned for the months to come.
This growth needs the participation of good-willed and energetic
members on the Board. This is an excellent opportunity to serve our
organization and be a part of its ongoing success.
Please consider running for one of the following positions:
1. Program Chair: Helps solicit tours, plan quarterly dinner
meetings, and organize other special programs as appropriate.
Assists Chairman-elect with inter-Society relations.
2. Scribe: Takes minutes of all meetings and distributes
them to board. Provides a summary copy, approved by the chair, to
the web master for inclusion on the website.
3. Board of Directors: Board members (up to 4) who assist
as needed with program development and implementation, membership
recruitment, and general section service. Members of the Board of
Directors often run for higher office with experience.
Officers stay in touch with e-mail, occasionally by phone, and meet
once a month for continental breakfast, the first Saturday of each month, at
Deep Sea Power & Light in Kearny Mesa.
Except for elections to fill unexpired terms, all terms of office
shall commence on January 1 and terminate on December 31.
