The Santa Fe Springs Carbon Operation designs and produces ceramic and carbon high temperature composites for aerospace and automotive applications. The Ceramic Composites applications include turbine engine components, industrial products and launch vehicles. POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for all technical aspects of furnace processing, with emphasis on high temperature composite (HTC) processing. Recommend and after approval by the Engineering department, implement furnace process and loading improvements. Duties may include supervising technicians.

POSITION RESPONSIBILILITIES:

Performance:
Review and approve process parameters for compliance with process specifications.
Inform Program Engineer if process deviates from specifications limits. Identify root cause and implement an effective corrective action(s).

Quality:
Review furnace loading plans and as appropriate recommend alternate loading plans.

Cost:
Achieve planned yields from every run with no quality deficiencies.

Problem Resolution:
Assess effect of furnace process deviation on products, recommend and manage corrective actions to eliminate problems from re-occurrence. Review all furnace related MRBs, recommend corrective action when appropriate and monitor effectiveness of such corrective actions
Specifications:

Develop all HTC related SOP''s and support the development of other documents

Configuration Control:
Monitor all furnace run instructions and drawings for most current revisions and full compliance with configuration control procedures

Documentation:
Provide written reports and/or presentations to document new or unusual occurrences.

Support:
Train production personnel on proper load assembly and furnace loading.

Train operators on the proper operation of equipment.

Manage the implementation of HTC batch processing.

Manage capital equipment projects.

24 hour support for process related issues.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science is preferred. Minimum 3 years in a Manufacturing environment. Experience with induction heating, chemical vapor deposition and distributive control systems are highly desirable.
