        Our Chapter warmly welcomes the President of the Society of
Manufacturing Engineers, Dr. Neil Duffie.  Dr. Duffie will speak to
our membership on the vital role manufacturing must play in America's
economic recovery, and what resources SME can provide to individuals
and their companies to expand the U.S. manufacturing base.
        Dr. Duffie is a professor in the Department of Mechanical
Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he manages
a department of more than 60 faculty and staff and 700 students with
a annual budget for education and research totaling $15-million
funded by industry and government grants. He serves on the editorial
board of the SME Journal of Manufacturing Systems. Dr. Duffie
received the SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award in
1984 and was installed as an SME Fellow in 1998.

        In addition, SME 44 will install its 2009 Officers.  Outgoing
Chair Dave Sulli will recap the year in pictures, and incoming Chair
Kevin Hardy will say a little about what's in store for next year.
